This Privacy Policy describes how Kaden Yokota ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information in connection with the Spider Browser application ("Application" or "Service"). By accessing or using the Application, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Privacy Policy, you must not use the Application.
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Spider Browser application for macOS. It covers information collected through the Application, through our website, and through any communications between you and us. This policy does not apply to third-party websites, applications, or services that you may access through the Application, each of which may have their own privacy policies that we encourage you to review.
We collect and process various types of information to provide, maintain, and improve our Service. The categories of information we collect include the following:
2.1 Account Registration Information. When you create an account or sign in to the Application, we collect your email address, display name, and a unique user identifier. If you choose to authenticate using Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, we receive the information you authorize those services to share with us, which typically includes your email address and name.
2.2 Browsing Data and Canvas Information. The Application collects and stores information about web pages you visit within the Application, including URLs, page titles, timestamps, and favicons. We also store the spatial positions of nodes on your canvas, connections between nodes that you create or that are automatically generated when you navigate from one page to another, and any notes or annotations you add to your canvas. This data is essential to providing the core functionality of the Application.
2.3 Browsing History. The Application maintains a record of your browsing activity, including URLs visited and corresponding timestamps. You may disable this feature in the Application settings at any time, in which case we will cease collecting new browsing history data, though previously collected data will remain unless you delete it.
2.4 Bookmarks. We collect and store information about pages you bookmark, including URLs, titles, and organization within folders.
2.5 User Preferences and Settings. We collect information about your preferences within the Application, including appearance settings, zoom levels, and other configuration options.
2.6 Device and Technical Information. We may collect technical information about your device, including device type, operating system version, and Application version, for the purpose of providing technical support and ensuring compatibility.
2.7 Locally Stored Data. Certain data is stored only on your local device and is not transmitted to our servers. This includes downloaded files, cached web content, cookies and website data from sites you visit, and temporary screenshot images used for node previews. We do not have access to this locally stored data.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
3.1 To Provide and Maintain the Service. We use your information to authenticate your identity, provide access to the Application, synchronize your browsing data across devices associated with your account, and deliver the core features and functionality of the Application.
3.2 To Improve the Service. We may use aggregated, anonymized information to understand how users interact with the Application and to make improvements to features, performance, and user experience.
3.3 To Communicate With You. We may use your email address to send you important notices about the Service, including changes to our terms or policies, security alerts, and technical notices. We may also respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
3.4 To Ensure Security and Prevent Fraud. We use information to protect the security and integrity of the Service, to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorized access, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their commercial purposes. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
4.1 Service Providers. We use third-party service providers to help us operate the Service. These include Firebase (operated by Google) for authentication and cloud data storage, and Stripe for payment processing. These providers have access only to the information necessary to perform their functions and are obligated to protect your information in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable law.
4.2 Legal Requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process, such as a subpoena, court order, or government request. We may also disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
4.3 Business Transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or other similar event, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
5.1 Cloud Storage. Your browsing data, canvas information, bookmarks, and settings are stored on servers operated by Firebase (Google Cloud Platform). Data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL protocols and encrypted at rest. Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account.
5.2 Local Storage. Data stored locally on your device is protected by the macOS App Sandbox, which isolates the Application from other applications on your system. If you have enabled FileVault on your Mac, local data is additionally protected by full-disk encryption.
5.3 Security Measures. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. You may delete individual items such as nodes, bookmarks, or history entries at any time through the Application. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information from our servers, though some information may be retained in backup systems for a limited period or as required by law.
7.1 Access and Portability. You may access your browsing data, bookmarks, and history at any time through the Application interface. If you wish to receive a copy of your data in a portable format, you may contact us at the email address provided below.
7.2 Correction. You may update or correct your account information at any time through the Application settings.
7.3 Deletion. You may delete individual data items through the Application. You may also request deletion of your entire account by contacting us. Upon account deletion, we will delete your personal information from our active systems, subject to our backup and retention policies.
7.4 Opt-Out of History Tracking. You may disable browsing history tracking at any time in the Application settings under Settings, then History.
The Application is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information from our systems.
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country. By using the Application, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Application after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
