Spider Browser is a native macOS application. The minimum system requirements for running the Application are as follows: macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later operating system. The Application is compatible with both Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, and subsequent Apple-designed processors) and Intel-based Mac computers. The Application requires an active internet connection for account authentication, data synchronization, and web browsing functionality.
Spider Browser is a web browser application that replaces traditional tabbed browsing with an infinite canvas interface. In this interface, web pages are displayed as individual nodes that can be spatially arranged on a two-dimensional canvas. When you navigate from one page to another by clicking a link, the Application creates a visual connection between the source and destination nodes, allowing you to visualize your browsing paths and research trails.
Canvas Navigation. To pan the canvas view, use two-finger scrolling on your trackpad or scroll with your mouse. To zoom the canvas view in or out, use pinch gestures on your trackpad or the keyboard shortcuts Command-Plus and Command-Minus. To focus on a specific node, click on it.
Node Interaction. Each node on the canvas represents a web page. You can interact with the content within each node as you would in any standard web browser. Nodes can be repositioned by dragging them to new locations on the canvas. You can delete nodes by selecting them and pressing Command-W or using the context menu.
Display Modes. The Application offers multiple viewing modes. In the standard canvas view, all nodes are visible in their spatial arrangement. Full display mode expands a single node to fill the screen for focused reading or interaction. Two-pane mode displays two nodes side by side for comparison purposes.
Account Registration. To use the Application, you must create an account. You may register using an email address and password, through Google Sign-In, or through Sign in with Apple. Your account is required to access Application features and to enable synchronization of your data across devices.
Subscription Requirements. Certain features of the Application may require an active paid subscription. Subscription plans and pricing are displayed within the Application and on our website. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. You may manage your subscription, update payment methods, or cancel your subscription at any time through the Application settings or through the Stripe customer portal.
Data Collection. The Application collects and stores data necessary to provide its functionality. This includes your browsing data, canvas layout, node positions, connections between nodes, bookmarks, browsing history (if enabled), and user preferences. Your browsing history is stored to enable synchronization across devices and session restoration. You may disable browsing history collection in the Application settings under Settings, then History.
Data Storage. Your data is stored securely using Firebase, a cloud platform operated by Google. Data is encrypted during transmission using TLS/SSL protocols and is encrypted at rest on Firebase servers. Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account. Certain data, including downloaded files, cached web content, and local cookies, is stored only on your local device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Data Usage. We use your data solely to provide and improve the Application. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for complete information regarding our data practices.
Application Performance. If you experience performance issues, try closing unused nodes on your canvas, clearing the Application cache, or restarting the Application. If performance issues persist, please contact support with details about your system configuration and the nature of the issue.
Synchronization Issues. If your data is not synchronizing properly across devices, verify that you are signed in to the same account on all devices, that you have an active internet connection, and that your subscription is active. If synchronization issues persist, try signing out and signing back in to your account.
Bug Reports. When reporting bugs, please provide as much detail as possible, including the steps to reproduce the issue, what you expected to happen, what actually happened, your macOS version, your Application version, and any relevant screenshots or screen recordings. This information helps us diagnose and resolve issues more efficiently.
Your use of the Application is governed by our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. These documents describe your rights and responsibilities when using the Application, as well as how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the Application, you agree to be bound by these documents. We encourage you to review these documents periodically, as they may be updated from time to time.
